    Durmitor National Park

    18 glacial lakes • 48 peaks over 2,000m

Durmitor National Park is one of Montenegro's most treasured natural wonders. Spanning over 390 km², this UNESCO World Heritage Site encompasses a stunning alpine landscape shaped by glaciers over millennia. The park is dominated by the Durmitor massif, with Bobotov Kuk reaching 2,523 meters — the highest peak in the park. The Tara River Canyon, at 1,300 meters deep, is the deepest canyon in Europe and second deepest in the world after the Grand Canyon. Its crystal-clear waters are a paradise for rafting enthusiasts from around the globe. The park contains 18 glacial lakes, known locally as 'mountain eyes' (gorske oči), with the Black Lake (Crno jezero) being the most famous and accessible. These pristine lakes, surrounded by dense forests of black pine and spruce, create some of the most photographed landscapes in the Balkans.
